Salma Hayek Pinault is a Mexican and American actress and producer who predominantly works in Hollywood movies. She began her acting career in the 1989 Mexican television drama, Teresa.
In 1991 Salma Hayek moved to the United States to pursue her film career. After doing a small role in Mi vida local 1993, she caught the attention of director Robert Rodriguez who cast her in the 1995 movie Desperado starring Antonio Banderas. Success in Desperado put her in limelight and she was able to get her next major role in the 1996 movie From Dusk Till Dawn. After that, she acted in Fools Rush, Dogma, etc.
In 2002 Salma Hayek both produced and acted in a biographical film Frida, the biopic of a Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards.
In 2009 Hayek married French business executive François-Henri Pinault.
