The short film ‘Verses Of War,’ which was produced by Vivek Oberoi and in which he also stars, won the Best Film prize at the Great Indian Film Festival held at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The Great Indian Film Festival was a three-day event that brought together various short films and documentaries from throughout the world.
Prasad Kadam’s film ‘Verses of War’ pits an Indian Army Major, Sunil Bhatia, against his Pakistan Army counterpart after the former is ambushed by Pakistani forces. The short film is structured as a series of talks that provide light on the mentality of an Indian soldier who writes poetry and battles for his country with equal zeal.
Oberoi said after winning best film, “This is my first try at producing and acting in a short film.” The film’s subject, which honours military heroes and highlights their commitment to nation-building, is one that I am very passionate about.”
“The aim behind making this video was to depict the Indian soldier as a man who shares the same enthusiasm for art as he does for his nation,” he continued. It simply goes to prove that a good film will always find an audience and be appreciated now that it has won the Best Film award at The Great Indian Film Festival.”
Oberoi donated the film’s profits to the benefit of war widows when it was released on Republic Day.
